Vintage Page Designs: My De-Stash Challenge & Art Journal Giveaway

March 3, 2012

My De-Stash Challenge & Art Journal Giveaway

Do you have too much stuff?  I do - way too much!  So, I'm challenging myself over the next few months to get rid of some of the clutter in my studio.  And I'm starting with

PATTERED PAPER

I love the designer paper, but can't buy anything new until I use up what I've got.  As well as donating a bunch to my daughter's school and our church, I'll be posting projects all month using up my pile.  Want to join me?

Here's the first project I made - a 6" x 6" art journal.  The 25 pages consist of:
  • patterned paper
  • card stock
  • old book pages (from this bundle in my store)
  • vintage ephemera - postcard, flash cards & bingo card
  • an envelope
  • an acrylic page
Here's a handful of the pages:

And I'm going to it give it away to a randomly drawn winner who joins me in the challenge!

So, look into your stash of patterned paper and pick something that's been in there at least 3 months and use it.  Create a card, layout, altered art project, journal page - whatever you fancy. Then link it up here.  I'll be featuring ones that catch my eye throughout the month!  Challenge ends March 31, 2012.

Just a couple of pointers:

  1. Use up patterned paper that's been in your stash for at least 3 months - we're on the honor system here!
  2. Provide a direct link to your project on your blog or online gallery.
  3. Please include a link back to the challenge.
  4. Limit your entries to 3 per person.
  5. By entering the challenge, you're giving me permission to feature your card on the blog or Facebook page.
I can't wait to be inspired by your creations!

Oh, what fun! My only dilemma is choosing the at-least-3-months-in-the-studio paper; I have quite a collection! 8-)

What a great idea. I stopped doing much buying over a year ago because I have so much paper. I love the idea of creating an art journal of my own with my stuff. I don't have a bind-it-all so will have to think on other binding methods.

Oops, I have so much paper and the worst thing is I NEVER use it these days, tho I used to use it occasionally for book covers when I ran workshops, etc. This is a great idea, Ali - tho I think I may just have to give the rest away.... will see if I can join you in this because I do a lot of journalling now, so it will be useful x

ALI I LOVE this book, and will SO be joining your challenge--I have to admit, I snorted out loud when I read the part about destashing pp that's at least 3 months old. I can't even remember the last time I actually purchased pp, and yet, I have enough to stock a small scrapbook store . . .

The journal is brilliant, such a great idea of using stash. At the moment I am also in the process of tidying up, clearing out, ... what I've got. So I will definitely join you (lol) - great idea.

I'm glad to see Carol found her way here, and I just entered my Gingersnap Creations challenge piece--that Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper that the photo is mounted on, oh brother, not a clue how old it is. And that's actually one of my NEWER papers!!!

I LOVE to use bookpaper, this book I bought on a flee market, it's ful of illustrations of plants. I never have enough paper, so I don't mind winning it... LOL

I just stumbled upon your blog and I am so very glad I did! I have so much paper and other scrapbooking supplies that I feel like I am being buried alive! I love what you have been doing with your scraps and can't wait to see what other inpiration you come up with. I had started a mini series on my blog last year called using up the scraps and I think I now might get that back in the swing of things. Thanks again for that fabulous boost of crafty inspiration!
